ASIABEDS' Blue Products
As the largest archipelago on earth Indonesia's numerous small islands are filled with rich, colourful marine life and coral reefs, which are still untouched and beautiful. In Bali there are wonderful snorkeling and diving spots in the west coast, near Padangbai in the east and the islands of Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Penida off the south-eastern coast.

White Water Rafting on the Ayung River (5-6 hours)
The day starts early with a pick up at 07.30 hrs for the journey to the Ayung River, one of Bali’s most popular spot for the adrenalin-rushing sport of white water rafting. The thrill begins the moment you push off from the river bank. It is one-and-a-half hours of “fighting” the waves and rapids along six kilometres of the river. An exciting adventure amidst beautiful scenery. A delicious lunch awaits at journey’s end.

Bali on Alert Against Influenza A (H1N1) Virus
Bali is taking the necessary measures to prevent Influenza A (H1N1) virus from entering the island.
Authorities in Bali have been on high alert against the rapidly spreading swine flu Influenza A (H1N1) virus and took the necessary measures to prevent it from entering the island.
The Farming, Fisheries and Marine Department is taking preventative measures and have been spraying disinfectants around pig farming centres. The island’s capital city, Denpasar, has about 30,000 pigs, most privately-owned and kept in pig pens or cages, away from populated areas. which would minimise could help to prevent the spread of the virus.
At the Ngurah Rai International Airport authorities have called for a meeting between the airport administrator, airlines, customs and immigration, the quarantine board and search- and-rescue officials to discuss preventative measures against the H1N1 virus.
At the Ngurah Rai International Airport the government has instituted strict monitoring measures. Passengers and aircraft crew members from foreign countries have to pass through a thermal scanner to determine their body temperatures. Passengers coming from A H1N1 flu affected countries have to undergo special checking procedures. Bali has made early preparations at three appointed hospitals, which are able to give medical treatment to the people suspected to be infected with the H1N1 virus. The hospitals are Sanglah General Hospital the capital city of Denpasar; Gianyar General Hospital in Gianyar Regency, and Tabanan General Hospital in Tabanan Regency.

Garuda Indonesia in Forefront to Halt Spread of Influenza A (H1N1) Virus
Garuda Indonesia is taking numerous measures to prevent the entry of the H1N1 virus to Indonesia.
To prevent the spread of the A Influenza (H1N1) virus in Indonesia, Garuda Indonesia has taken several anticipatory measures and consulted with various airport authorities in Indonesia and in countries served by the airline for the handling of passengers suspected of having been infected by the virus.
Garuda Indonesia also instructs all its aircrew and ground staff to be on the alert for passengers with signs of the virus' symptoms during check-in and boarding, and to carry out the necessary procedures.
Preventive action is also taken on board. Garuda Indonesia's fleet is equipped with a “High Efficiency Particulate” air filter known as “TRUE HEPA”. This technology, one of the finest today, is capable of filtering up to 0,001 micron particles and producing 99.99 percent particle-free air quality inside the aircraft.
In addition, the airline also disinfects the cabin interior of all its aircraft that fly to and from high-risk regions. It also provides sets of mask and rubber hand glove in-flight for all regional and international sectors.
Garuda Indonesia Realigns Routes to Meet with Current Challenging Times
In view of the current economic downtrend and uncertain times Garuda Indonesia is deploying its resources to routes that offers more prospects and economically viable.
On 1 May 2009 Garuda Indonesia launched its once-daily Jakarta-Jambi and Jakarta-Denpasar-Kupang services, operating with a B-737 aircraft.
In the coming months Garuda Indonesia will also begin operating new routes that include Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang in June, Jakarta-Ambon-Ternate in July, Jakarta-Palu in August, Jakarta-Sorong-Manokwari in September 2009, and Denpasar-Brisbane in November 2009.
In view of the current political instability in Thailand Garuda Indonesia has temporarily reduced flight frequencies to Bangkok, from seven to three times a week as of 24 April.
Due to low passenger volume from several foreign destinations caused by the current global economic crisis, the airline has discontinued its thrice-weekly Denpasar-Darwin service. The airline currently flies to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in Australia.
In line with its fleet development programme Garuda Indonesia will take delivery of a new B737-800NG and A-330 aircraft in June this year.

Been There Done That
A CRUISE TO REMEMBER WITH WAKA CRUISE
By Patricia Muljadi
First Impression
For the first time ever I stepped into the luxury catamaran of Waka Cruise for a day cruise under Bali’s sunny blue sky. As the first time ever I stepped in to the luxury boat for a day cruise under the sunny blue sky,I couldn’t help feeling a jolt of excitement visioning myself soaking up the sun on the boat’s open deck, feasting on fresh grilled seafood after snorkeling, and exploring around Lembongan Island.
The cruise, on a 16-metre catamaran boat, takes off from Benoa Harbour at 08.30 hrs. An array of fresh fruit juices, soft drinks, coffee and fresh-baked pastries is all laid out for us to enjoy during the two-hour journey to Lembongan. The crew of six men mingles with us and happily answers our every query. It amazes me how they have the answers of every questions we ask them.

Going Green
PT. Buaya Travel Indonesia Loves Green
The staff of PT. Buaya Travel Indonesia, together with their families, celebrated Green Family Day on 5 April.
The event, supported by Eco-Bali, saw the presentation of two topics – “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and
“Say No to Plastic is Fantastic”, which were the main focus of the three-hour fun-filled and informative event.
The implementation of living green should start from our daily routines. By the simple move of separating organic and non-organic waste we are taking a big step in saving the environment.
The staff of PT. Buaya Travel Indonesia and their families are doing just that. They are disposing off waste such as paper, plastics, metals and glass into different bins to be recycled. We also strongly recommend the reduction in the usage of plastic and paper bags. Our staff is now taking reusable non-woven bags with them whenever they go shopping.
ASIABEDS’ Green Recommendation : A Day with Nature
This is a special back-to-nature day spent at Tunjuk Village (Taman Sri Buwana) in Tabanan, which is off the beaten track.
The day with nature begins at 07.30hrs when we pick you from your hotels and take you to Tunjuk Village, a typical Balinese village. On arrival you get to experience the way of life of the local people. This is followed by a visit to the village school and getting to know the pupils. You may bring along children books and school stationeries to give to the pupils. You get the chance to teach and share knowledge with the eager children. Then it’s off to the fields to try your hand at farming - cultivating the land and planting rice. A short trek through the rice field gives you an insight into the existing vegetation around the area. Lunch is a typical Balinese meal prepared by the villagers.
