In this column, Been There Done That, ASIABEDS shares with you experiences in some of the resorts, restaurants, spas and other tourist facilities in Bali. We start with the Anantara Seminyak Resort and Spa.
Location
On the beach front of the world-renowned Seminyak Beach and managed by an international brand in the hospitality industry.
First Impression
One to remember. From the moment you arrive at the minimalist-styled lobby lounge you are treated like a VIP. One of the Front Desk staff escorts you to your room, where he explains all the facilities to you. Then he offers you a complimentary welcome drink and cold towel. A welcome letter, signed by the General Manager, is waiting for you on the desk, while another from the Executive Housekeeper is on the bed – additional gestures of a warm welcome.
The Resort
Situated on 3,500sqm of prime beachfront the resort features 59 luxurious suites. Each suite is approximately 80sqm and features expansive, free flowing spaces with Balinese inspired décor, floor to ceiling glass doors and windows, and large balconies with terrazzo tubs for two and offering a panoramic view of the ocean below.
The Anantara Penthouse is huge, 420sqm in size, with two ensuite bedrooms, dining room and outdoor lounge. It offers a great sense of space, comfort and luxury that makes it difficult for you to leave.
I stayed in the Anantara Ocean Suite with a great sea view. It is divided into a dressing room, bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom has a fantastic shower with various settings and a huge bathtub - all that you would expect from a top class hotel. The bed is huge and very comfortable. The balcony has a large spa and day bed, again tastefully designed and private.
There is a satellite TV with a 42-inch LCD screen with a Bose sound system. Another great amenity is a docking station for your iPod- perfect for the music lovers.
What makes the Anantara more unique is the management has blended great accommodation with fantastic service. Genuinely warm and professional staff goes out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. Response from the staff to my request for service is swift - hallmark of a true 5 star experience.
Facilities and Activities: Anantara's facilities include Wild Orchid –that offers an indoor dining experience with authentic Thai cuisine; The Paon restaurant that serves an elegant breakfast, a light luncheon or a luxurious classic tea; Rooftop Grill & Wine that serves fresh fine meats and seafood grills; the rooftop bar on 6th floor where guests can enjoy the famous Seminyak sunset; an onsite Anantara Spa; and three swimming pools, one with infinity-edge overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Those who want to keep in touch with the cyber world will be happy as there is high speed WiFi Internet access in all suites.
Verdict
I would recommend Anantara Bali Resort and Spa to all visitors to Bali, be they couples looking for a romantic getaway or families wanting to spend some quality time together in an exclusive resort.
